I first laid eyes on D26 back in Spring 2011 when she was selected as a donor out of a group in excess of 500 females in the Wirruna herd - I knew we had to have her then and there. We bided our time and were very fortunate to secure her from the Locke's at the beginning of 2017 as a highly proven female who is arguably from a phenotypic point of view the best cow to come out of the Wirruna herd. Like many of the cows we gravitate towards even as a 9 year old cow in her work clothes she still displays an easy doing youthful phenotype with feet as good as you would find and a tidy udder. She is often the cow that attracts the most attention when we have visitors to the herd.
D26 currently has 53 recorded progeny (we hope to add to this!) including multiple stud sires and elite daughters. She has consistently bred easy doing attractive progeny with excellent structure - just what we are trying to achieve. A son is one of our current semen sires Tobruk Larry L5 who is the result of an embryo we purchased from Wirruna - he is impressive to say the least a Bennett Revolution son that we have a lot of time for. Her 2017 calf is a Wirruna Lennon L102 bull calf - the mid parents are impressive and he already displays the muscle pattern that his sire offers in spades - and with both parents being homozygous we are confident he will be a genetic dehorner.
